Protocol-based Care
Protocols are structured, time-bound medical care plans designed around a specific goal. They are best suited for situations where focused attention, coordination, and follow-through over a defined period of time are needed.
Rather than addressing concerns piecemeal, Protocols allow care to be organized as a coherent medical project, with clear objectives and an endpoint.
Protocols are recommended when a health challenge cannot be adequately addressed through isolated visits alone and instead benefits from a coordinated, time-limited plan with clear objectives and re-evaluation points.
Common Protocols include:
Pre- and post-surgical optimization and recovery
Wound healing and tissue repair support
Concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Stroke recovery and neurologic rehabilitation
Cognitive decline, brain health, and dementia support
Supportive care during or after cancer treatment
Recovery after illness, overtraining, or significant physical stress
Conditions where structured hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) may provide physiologic support
Protocols may be used on their own or alongside Membership care, depending on your needs.
How it works
-
Clinician Preparation
Before your first visit, relevant medical history is gathered and reviewed, including prior labs, imaging reports, and any outside evaluations.
-
Initial Visit
Protocol-based care begins with a clinical evaluation to determine what approach would best support your goal. We’ll align on a plan and immediate next steps.
-
Ongoing Care
Care proceeds according to the agreed-upon plan, with periodic reassessment and adjustment as needed. The Protocol will end when the objectives are met or when further care would be better served through a different approach.
Pricing
Because each Protocol is individualized, pricing reflects the scope, duration, and intensity of care required. A detailed proposal is provided before initiation so expectations are clear from the outset.
Protocols commonly include a combination of the following:
One or more clinical visits for assessment, planning, and follow-up
Structured hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), when indicated
Supplement or peptide recommendations, when appropriate
Objective testing such as labs, imaging review, or neurocognitive testing
Ongoing coordination and adjustment over the course of the Protocol
Your protocol may include
Testing, labs and imaging
-
Computer-based cognitive assessment used for baseline evaluation and longitudinal tracking
-
Segmental body composition analysis including lean mass, fat mass, and hydration metrics
-
Ordering, coordination, and interpretation of laboratory studies
Laboratory costs are not included, however, they are typically covered by insurance
-
Coordination of imaging studies and clinical interpretation of results
Imaging costs are not included, however, they are typically covered by insurance
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is often used within Protocol-based care when repeated exposures, timing, and coordination with other interventions are important to achieving a specific outcome.
Within a Protocol, HBOT may be paired with clinical visits, supplementation, rehabilitation strategies, or objective testing to support defined goals such as neurologic recovery, injury healing, surgical support, or recovery during cancer treatment.
Using HBOT within a Protocol allows session frequency, duration, and sequencing to be aligned with a clear clinical objective, rather than applied in isolation.
